3 offseason moves for the Memphis Grizzlies to take the next step in 2021-22

From 2010-2017, the Memphis Grizzlies were known to be a tough, physical basketball team that found a lot of success during the regular season, but in the NBA postseason, this team has reached the Western Conference Finals just once in their history in 2013.

The Grizzlies have missed the playoffs each of the last three seasons, failing to beat the Portland Trail Blazers in the play-in game last year to earn the rights to the 8-seed in the Western Conference, and this year, Memphis will likely have this same opportunity.

They are set to participate in the NBA play-in tournament in the Western Conference and the odds of them earning one of the final two playoff spots is bleak. Led by Ja Morant, Memphis is one of the younger teams in the league, but they do have quite a bit of experience on their team.

Jonas Valanciunas and Kyle Anderson are the “older” leaders of this team and while both Xavier Tillman and Desmond Bane are the Grizzlies two rookies this year, they are both 22-years-old, making them more experienced players coming into the league.

Overall, there is a lot to like about the Grizzlies and their future with their young stars in Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr, but this team will have some key decisions to make in the offseason in order to finally become a playoff threat out West.

Now, let’s take a look at three offseason moves the Memphis Grizzlies should consider making in order to take the next step during the 2021-22 season.
