The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the best teams in the NBA when healthy. They have fallen a bit in the standings in the Western Conference but that will not matter when LeBron James and Anthony Davis return to the court. Los Angeles is built for the postseason and that is what they are focused on moving forward.
With that being said, it is never too early to start looking at potential offseason targets. Los Angeles has been aggressive in years past and hopes of building the next great franchise. This includes adding players like Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell last offseason.

As we gear towards this year, the Lakers could have their eye on some talent at point guard. It seems likely that they could look to improve the backcourt in a couple ways.
Los Angeles is a team that struggles from three-point range. Overall, their play in the backcourt has been inconsistent. After acquiring Schroder in the offseason, the Lakers offered him a four-year extension worth $90 million.
Schroder turned it down and will test his worth in NBA free agency. This means the Lakers will have to replace him at the top of the offense and this is could be their priority moving forward.
Once the postseason is complete, the front office in Los Angeles will have plenty of names to look at. Here are three potential targets that the Lakers could study in the offseason.
Chris Paul
This would be the ultimate blockbuster move and one that turns back to clock a bit. The NBA declined the trade that would have teamed Chris Paul in Los Angeles with Kobe Bryant. In the offseason, history could come full circle and Paul could finally end up with the Lakers.
It is no secret that Chris Paul is extremely good friends with LeBron James. They have never been on the same team and as they head towards the end of their careers, the duo could finally decide to pair. It is only right that it comes in Los Angeles. This will be the ultimate improvement at the top of the offense for the Lakers.
Chris Paul has taken the Phoenix Suns to the next level as they are the two seed in the Western Conference. He is a winning player that has been one of the best point guards in the league for years now.

Adding Chris Paul for the next couple years would help the Lakers add potential he some more championships. This is the ultimate win-now move for a team looking to pile up titles in an already stacked trophy room.
JJ Redick
The Lakers need to add more perimeter shooting around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They are a team with a strong frontcourt with players that can get in the lane and score of the rim. If they want to improve their prowess from deep, a player like JJ Redick would help right away.
These two sides have been linked for years now. The Lakers never made a trade to acquire JJ Redick and they could finally looked at him in NBA free agency. He is in the final year of his contract and could be looking for a home with a contender over the final years of his career.
JJ Redick has been one of the top shooters in the league since entering and would give LeBron James that option on the perimeter that he likes to have. At this point, Redick would not be expensive so this is a low-risk, high-reward move for Los Angeles.

JJ Redick is still productive and could give the Lakers extremely valuable minutes off the bench over the course of the season. It will be interesting to see if he decides to chase a title over the next couple years before hanging them up.
Andre Drummond
Andre Drummond signed a deal with the Lakers after agreeing to a buyout with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has played six games with the Lakers and is beginning to make an immediate impact. Drummond showed that he is still one of the best big men in the league with the Cavs and is a true center.
In 9 games, Andre Drummond is averaging 11.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. It is unknown if the Lakers will decide to move Montrezl Harrell in the offseason. This would open up some room to give Drummond a new deal.
Andre Drummond is already in the building but will be a free agent at the end of the year. This is a chance for the Lakers to stay strong down low and build a frontcourt that can dominate further with Drummond and Davis.
