Davion Mitchell

Davion Mitchell was one of the catalysts for the National Champion Baylor Bears this season. He had a chance to show what he could do and boosted his draft stock tremendously throughout the tournament. He averaged 14 points and 5.1 assists per game this season. Mitchell has turned himself into a top-10 pick and the Magic could be in the market with their first selection.

Mitchell might be the best defender in the draft. He is elite on the perimeter and can guard the opposing team’s best player. There is no better on-ball defender in the class. Davion Mitchell showed that he is a playmaker on the offensive end. He can score at all three levels and handle the ball in the open floor.

The backcourt duo of Davion Mitchell and Jared Butler dominated the tournament and complemented each other well. It all depends on how Orlando feels about age. Mitchell will turn 23 this year and in NBA years, that is ancient for a rookie. This should not turn teams away from Mitchell because he looks like one of the most NBA-ready players in the draft.

It is important when coming from a winning culture. Davion Mitchell proved to be that type of player and could help a rebuilding team like the Magic. Orlando is hoping that Markelle Fultz will breakout after his injury and adding Mitchell to the backcourt could be productive.
