New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans could be in the market for a big name in the offseason. This could be in free agency or on the trading block. Karl-Anthony Towns is one that would bring a new dynamic to a team with great star power already. We have seen New Orleans unload some players in hopes of getting younger and they could take that next step with a deal such as this one.

There is no doubt that Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram are the future pieces to build around for the Pelicans. Adding Karl-Anthony Towns would give them a big three and move them towards contention in a difficult Western Conference.

Zion Williamson is already a star in the league and Ingram signed an extension this past offseason. They both do many things well but do not have the versatility of Towns. He is a center that can man the inside or clear out when someone else is heading to the basket. This would be an ideal fit for the Pelicans.

We saw the Pelicans unload Jrue Holiday and JJ Redick this year. They might not be done once this season is complete. The Timberwolves would benefit from the draft compensation New Orleans received from the Anthony Davis trade. Of course, Minnesota wouldn’t get all of it because Davis is on a higher plane as a player.

Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe standout as trade pieces in a deal involving the Pelicans. Adams would be the replacement big down low for the Timberwolves. Bledsoe came over from the Milwaukee Bucks in the Holiday deal. This, along with first-round draft capital, would be needed to land a player of Karl-Anthony Towns’ caliber.
