Does this trade make sense for the Mavericks?
Getting Myles Turner to pair with Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic definitely makes a ton of sense for the Mavericks, but do they really get better by swapping Porzingis for Turner? They do get Jeremy Lamb and some future draft compensation as well, but overall, the Mavericks do not really improve as a team by getting rid of Porzingis for Turner.
Myles Turner could definitely help the Mavericks defensively and make them a Top-10, possibly even a Top-5 defensive team in the league, and Jeremy Lamb is more than capable of being a reliable second-unit scorer, but the Mavericks need high-level talent to surround Luka Doncic with in order to turn themselves back into a championship contender.
With Luka, anything is possible for the Mavericks and they could very much go on a run in the playoffs without Kristaps Porzingis, but keeping Porzingis and adding a third, All_Star caliber talent seems to be what the Mavericks will look to do in the offseason.
Dallas is in a position where they do not need to panic and try to flip their roster around, but they will need to try and be aggressive to add more talent.

Tim Hardaway Jr. is set to become a free agent, giving the Mavericks over $20M in cap space to play around with, so going after some big name free agents could be the route this organization looks to move in instead of pursuing a trade involving Kristaps Porzingis.
