This Mavs-Pacers offseason trade is focused on Kristaps Porzingis

Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

Trading away Myles Turner would definitely have a negative impact on the Pacers defensively since he is leading the league in blocks, but acquiring Kristaps Porzingis gives them one of the best starting rotations in the entire league. 

Porzingis is a much better offensive talent than Myles Turner and with him still having the ability to be an avid shot-blocker, the Pacers really would not be losing too much by trading Turner. Trading Lamb does not really hurt them either since he is a veteran player that can be replaced. 

What does hurt the Pacers is that they would be giving up a 2022 first-round pick and a future second-round pick. Indiana has not seen much postseason success over the years and they do not really have a young core intact, so if things continue to not going well for them, then not having these draft picks to build for the future could be detrimental. 

Overall though, the Pacers need to do everything they can to try and win now, especially since they have the All-Star talent on their roster now. Indiana has too much salary cap spending dedicated to their core players to

Making this move to get Kristaps Porzingis would definitely improve their roster and while it may seem like a lot to give up, Indiana is receiving really good value in this trade for Porzingis.
