Isaiah Thomas

Another guy that teams have seemed to forget about and give up on is Isaiah Thomas. The former 2x All-Star with the Boston Celtics is well known for going from being the 60th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft to being a star in the NBA, but after a hip injury that required resurfacing surgery, Thomas has been battling to earn another shot in the league.

Recently, the Pelicans signed Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract and in three games with New Orleans, Thomas actually played really well. He averaged 7.7 points, 1.7 assist and shot 33.3% from the floor in three games off-the-bench, which is not bad at all seeing as he had not played in a NBA game since February of last year.

Prior to being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers ahead of the 2017-18 season, Isaiah Thomas was the leader of the Boston Celtics and was a fan-favorite of many across the league not only because of how good of a player he was, but because of how humble and grateful of a guy he is.

In 179 career games with the Celtics, Isaiah Thomas averaged 24.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.0 steals and shot 36.8% from three-point range. This kind of experience, once All-Star player is exactly the kind of player the Nuggets need to replace Jamal Murray, especially if they are going to have any shot at potentially keeping their championship hopes alive.

Isaiah Thomas is a high-level point guard that may not be the same player he once was, but he has been “the guy” before and can definitely contribute at a high-level given the chance to prove he can do so.

Austin Rivers and Gerald Green are excellent role player options for the Nuggets to target, but if they truly want to sign a guy that can make a huge difference for them, then Isaiah Thomas is their guy.
