3 way-too-early free agents for Spurs to consider this offseason

The San Antonio Spurs missed out on the postseason last season for the first time in 22 years. This led to the team being thrown around in NBA trade rumors all throughout the offseason and first half. There were minimal moves made because the team is back to competing for a postseason spot. There is a chance that the Spurs are left out once again and this could lead to some big moves.

DeMar DeRozan was the biggest name mentioned in NBA free agency rumors. He was not moved at the trade deadline and continues to lead San Antonio. LaMarcus Aldridge agreed to a buyout with the team and eventually signed with the Brooklyn Nets.

The Spurs are led by young players such as Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson. There are extensions that need to be done but it is unknown when those will take place. As the Spurs head down the stretch of the season, it is important to keep an eye on NBA free agency.

The Spurs were in the mix for the postseason since the beginning. They have fallen off a bit and are currently ninth with a record of 24-25. This is a franchise that has been at the top of the league for two decades now but they are going through a bit of a transition.

Gregg Popovich is still one of the best head coaches and leaders in the league and he will not let San Antonio fall too far behind. This can be done by rounding out the roster and filling the holes that currently exist in the lineup.

Free agency will be key for a team like the Spurs. Here are three potential targets that the team could look into once the offseason comes around.
