3 teams who could strongly consider Spencer Dinwiddie in free agency

Spencer Dinwiddie was one of the biggest trade pieces for the Brooklyn Nets at the NBA trade deadline. They ended up not getting a deal done and it could have been because of his current situation. Dinwiddie suffered a partial tear to his ACL in the third game of the season and will not be back until next year. When he returns, it could be for a new team.

Dinwiddie has a player option at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if he decides to go to free agency following an injury. If he does, there will be some teams interested in his services. Dinwiddie could make $12 million if he locks in for next season with the Nets. Let’s go back a year ago.

After three games this season, Dinwiddie was shut down for the season. He obviously did not get as much time in those games with Kyrie Irving back on the floor. Last season during Irving’s absence, Dinwiddie proved that he is a starting-caliber guard that can play at a high level.

Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points per game in 31.3 minutes a night. The Nets were not championship contenders because of injuries to both Irving and Kevin Durant. This season, they have added more elite talent and look the part.

Spencer Dinwiddie will not be part of the run. A decision will be coming up at the end of the season and these three teams could be interested if he ultimately decides to leave the Nets.
