Prying Leonard away from the Clippers would be no easy task for the Heat. However, Pat Riley and company could absolutely put an offer together that would intrigue Leonard.
Why should Kawhi strongly consider listening to the Heat’s offer? Because if winning championships is what he’s all about, there is no better place than Miami. They have a roster ready to win and they have two stars that would fit perfectly with him.
Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard would wreak havoc on opposing offenses. They are two of the best perimeter defenders in the game. Not only are they elite perimeter defenders on their own, they would thrive and feed off of each other on the defensive end of the court.
The culture that Miami has year in and year out would fit Leonard’s personality as well. They are all business and all about winning. Leonard does not mess around and he doesn’t have time for any nonsense off the court.
Leonard and the Heat make a ton of sense and there could be an opportunity for Miami to make their pitch to him this offseason. If that is the case, Leonard will have a tough decision to make. This is something to keep a close eye on.
