Houston Rockets
This has been a long-time coming for the Houston Rockets as they were on the verge of making the NBA Finals numerous times over the years, but could not seem to get past the Golden State Warriors. As a result, they traded both Russell Westbrook and Robert Covington before the season started and then traded James Harden in January. More change needs to come for the Rockets.
Now, in a “post-Harden era,” the future has a chance to be bright for the Rockets, but a lot of losing and suffering from their fan base is yet to come. This team needs to do everything they can to continue acquiring young talents and draft picks, which is why trading some veteran players like John Wall, Eric Gordon and D.J. Augustin is a must in the offseason.
Wall is going to be owed a ton of money over the next couple of seasons, money he is not worth anymore, which is why the Rockets need to get this off of their books as soon as possible. Wall is owed $91.6M through the 2022-23 season and with them looking to get younger, it makes no sense for the Rockets to keep Wall past this season.

The same goes for Eric Gordon, who is owed $58.7M through the next three seasons. While the Rockets basically already “blew up” their roster, they need to trade the remaining big salaries on their roster to not only free up cap space, but bring in more young, highly-talented players.
