The Boston Celtics came into the season with hopes of being one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. To this point, it has not looked that way. They will need to consider making a key addition or two in the NBA offseason.

Boston is currently 25-25 on the year. Because of a poor conference, they are still in the playoff race and sit in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics still have one of the top duos in the league in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who will be a dynamic duo to build around for the long haul.

On the offensive side of the ball, both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are having great seasons but the Celtics lack depth behind them and ability in the frontcourt. Kemba Walker is still working his way back into form and not having his previous level of impact has held their ceiling down as a team.

At the NBA trade deadline, the Celtics did not do anything to improve their unit down low. This has been a huge need since the offseason. As the season rolls on, it will be interesting to see if any trades come up in talks for the offseason. If not, the team could be looking to make some key additions in NBA free agency.

The Celtics have faced their fair share of backlash and criticism for their underachievement this season. The bar is higher than its ever been to compete in the Eastern Conference with the Brooklyn Nets now having a super-team. The Philadelphia 76ers have figured it out and even teams like the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets are moving up the ranks. Boston will be a team to watch in NBA rumors in the offseason for key potential changes.

Once the season is complete, teams will begin putting together an offseason plan. These three names could be at the top of the list for Danny Ainge and the Celtics.
