3 players the Warriors could be eyeing in NBA offseason

This season for the Golden State Warriors has been very different as not only does having no Klay Thompson really hurt their chances to do anything special, but they are in a very awkward position financially. They are not only paying a ton of luxury taxes this season due to them being $36.1M over the luxury tax threshold, but they are projected to be $50M+ over the salary cap for next NBA season entering the offseason.

The good news for them is that Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and James Wiseman are all under contract for next season, so they do not have to worry about re-signing any major pieces to their core (other than agreeing to a long-term extension with Steph), but Kelly Oubre Jr. is set to be an unrestricted free agent and the Warriors have virtually no cap space to go out and sign other high-level talents in free agency.

Unless the Warriors make a move to trade Andrew Wiggins in the offseason, this team has virtually no flexibility when it comes to making a big move in free agency or acquiring another All-Star level talent. This will be something to monitor in NBA trade rumors given his improved play.

At full strength, this Warriors core definitely has the chance to contend for a championship, as they have so many seasons prior to this season, but they will have to make all the right moves to turn this roster back into championship caliber one.

Kevon Looney, Jordan Poole, Damion Lee and Eric Paschall are all great bench players to have, but the Warriors are still one to two key signings/acquisitions away from being true contenders moving forward.

As a result, let’s take a look at three players the Warriors should be eyeing in the offseason to potentially add to their roster.
