1. Brooklyn Nets Are Ready To Win Now

There is no doubt what team is ready to win right away. The Brooklyn Nets are one of the top teams in the league while inconsistencies have hurt the Heat this season. They are not looking like the team that came out of the East a season ago in the postseason. It was a miracle run and the Miami Heat is beginning to come back down to Earth a bit.

Brooklyn has been aggressive for a couple years now. Both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant signed in free agency prior to last season. James Harden and Blake Griffin were added next and now Aldridge. The front office in Brooklyn is seeing what teams in Los Angeles are doing and wants to keep up.

The Miami Heat have been linked to some big-name players and this includes Victor Oladipo, who was acquired at the NBA trade deadline. They seemed to be the frontrunners for Aldridge but he decided to chase a championship instead. This is hard to argue against for a 35-year-old center.

The Heat’s recent six-game losing streak was a key factor in Aldridge ultimately turning away from the team people close to him were convinced he was set to join. The sudden lack of success is concerning when factoring in Oladipo hasn’t played all that well since his injury and is going to be needing to be worked into the mix, which could hurt Miami’s half-court offense.

The Nets are in win-now mode and will be for a couple more years. Aldridge will be a big part of that moving forward and this is ultimately why he decided to sign in Brooklyn over the Miami Heat. The timing is not right to ring chase with any team other than the Nets in the Eastern Conference.
