While they have had their struggles over the years, the Detroit Pistons are not in that bad of a position as a franchise. With rookies Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart playing really well, as well as Jerami Grant having a breakout season, Detroit is definitely in a great position to continue growing as a franchise, the only question is what will they look to do in the NBA offseason?
After dealing Delon Wright and just acquiring Cory Joseph from the Kings at this year’s trade deadline, they will not have much cap space to play around with, which could mean the Pistons will use next year as another “stepping stone” season to continue getting their young core more and more experience.
However, if the Pistons do not want to wait to win games and want to try and capitalize on their talents now, they could potentially look to make another deal with the Kings, only this time going after Buddy Hield.
Now in his 5th season in the league, Buddy Hield has turned himself into a really solid all-around offensive weapon and with his ability to knock down shots in volume from the perimeter, he could be the perfect player to pair next to Jerami Grant on the wing and makes him an intriguing “buy-low” name to monitor in NBA trade rumors.

Over the course of his career, Hield has averaged 16.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and has shot 40.6% from three-point range. Depending on how the rest of the season plays out for the Kings, they could potentially look to make a move in the offseason to try and turn things around, especially if they miss the playoffs for the 15th consecutive season.
Buddy Hield has long been tied to trade rumors, but if the Kings once again miss the playoffs, him being on the move is a very real possibility. He has a pretty affordable contract for teams looking to add a high-level player and with plenty of options to free up some cap space, the Pistons could look to bring him in to pair with their young core and Grant.
With that said, let’s take a look at a hypothetical offseason trade that would feature Buddy Hield, a player who could find himself back in NBA trade rumors, being traded to the Detroit Pistons.
