Dallas Mavericks Receive: F Andrew Wiggins, F Eric Paschall

The Mavericks have a great core with Luke Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, but much like the Bulls, they will be searching for that third, reliable scoring option to hopefully make themselves championship-contenders in a loaded Western Conference. Andrew Wiggins could absolutely be that kind of player for them and they could give the Warriors a fair amount of compensation in return.

Josh Richardson is the epitome of a “3-and-D” wing in today’s league and Jalen Brunson has turned himself into a really solid backup point guard for the Mavericks. At just 24-years-old, Brunson has a ton of potential to grow into something special, as he is currently averaging 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shooting 39.2% from three-point range.

In this trade scenario with the Mavericks, the Warriors get a high-level role player in Richardson, who will be in the final year of his contract next season, a young, high-level guard in Brunson and two first-round picks that will convey over since the Mavericks will surely be a playoff team since the 2022 pick would be protected 1-10.

Like mentioned earlier, the Warriors front-office will be looking for options in terms of All-Star talents they can add to pair with their core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, which is why having the financial flexibility from this trade scenario with the Mavericks is important.

The Warriors have no room to sign a max-contract player in free agency and the only way they can get more elite talent is through a trade. They will be paying a ton of money in luxury taxes to field a championship-caliber team, but this organization as a whole still believes they can win a few more championships before it is time for Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to retire.

This trade scenario with the Mavericks not only gives them two talents to be able to contend with next season, but the draft picks necessary to continue building a sustainable, high-level, young core around their current Hall-of-Fame talents. If the Warriors want key role players and draft picks, then the Mavericks will likely be willing to make this trade.
