Prior to the start of the 2020-21 NBA season, the Milwaukee Bucks made a big move and acquired former All-Star guard Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans. The Bucks were able to acquire Holiday in a four-team deal with the Pelicans, Thunder and Nuggets, trading away George Hill, Eric Bledsoe, three first-round picks and two first-round pick swaps.
In 7 seasons with the Pelicans prior to joining the Bucks, Holiday averaged 17.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.5 steals and shot 46.2% from the floor. This season with the Bucks, Jrue Holiday has continued to be impressive, averaging 16.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, a league-high 1.8 steals and is shooting 50% from the floor and 38.6% from three-point range.
After this season, Holiday has the option to opt out of his $26M deal for next season and there is a chance that he could exercise this option, becoming an unrestricted free agent. $26M is a lot of money to turn down, especially for a player like Holiday who is in his 30s, so he could ultimately opt into his deal for next season, but there still is that chance that he could be a free agent. He will be an under-the-radar name to watch in NBA rumors if the Bucks underachieve in the playoffs.

Should Jrue Holiday enter NBA free agency, there will be plenty of teams looking to sign him because he is one of the best two-way guards in the entire league. Not only is he leading the league in steals per game this season, but Jrue Holiday is a 2x All-Defensive player in the NBA.
His ability to affect the game on both ends of the floor is what has made him so valuable and is why plenty of teams will look to sign the veteran guard should he become a free agent. Let’s take a look at three teams who should go “all-out” to pursue Jrue Holiday in NBA free agency should he opt out of his contract.
