Atlanta Hawks

The #1 team that should target John Collins in the offseason and go “all-out” to sign him is his current team, the Atlanta Hawks. Over the years, the Hawks have built a really strong young core with John Collins being a focal point in their team’s success next to Trae Young. Without him, they would take a major step back and put themselves back where they were 2-3 years ago looking for more talent to potentially become a playoff regular again.

This season, the Hawks are currently slated to be a playoff team in the East and while they may lose in the first-round, there is a lot to like about this team moving forward. They have a ton of young, high-level talents that they will continue to build with and with some high-level, reliable players in Bogdan Bogdanovic and Danilo Gallinari, this team could easily become a playoff threat over the course of the next season or two.

This can only happen though if John Collins remains with this team. The Atlanta Hawks should be willing to pay Collins whatever he wants, even though Trae Young is coming up on being eligible for a contract-extension. Unless they can get a ton of value by executing a sign-and-trade with him, there is no reason for the Hawks to look to get rid of John Collins.

Him and Trae Young and the now and the future of this franchise and if they let John Collins go, they will be making a detrimental mistake. Players with his athleticism in the frontcourt do not come around everyday and with him only being 23-years-old, John Collins can be one of the Hawks best players for a long-time to come.

For this reason alone is why the Atlanta Hawks should go “all-out” to re-sign John Collins, ensuring that he does not go elsewhere in free agency.
