With the Magic trading away almost all of their top players, they have made their intentions to rebuild clear, which is why they could be willing to absorb John Wall’s mega-contract should the Rockets look to dump him for salary relief in the offseason.

The Magic could definitely utilize Wall while they rebuild and if they are to get some draft compensation along with him, this trade could be well worth it for them in the grand scheme of things. The Magic’s intentions right now are to acquire draft picks and young talents to build for the future with, which is why they could be willing to absorb a huge contract to add onto their future assets.

With the Rockets also rebuilding though, it seems crazy to think that they would give up on or two of their valuable draft picks in order to dump John Wall’s salary. At that point, they might as well just hold onto Wall through the duration of his contract and just settle with the salary themselves.

Again, finding a trade partner for John Wall will be extremely difficult for the Rockets since he is owed $40M+ a season through the 2022-23 season. They knew what they were getting themselves into when they originally traded for him in the Westbrook deal, which is why they may have to eat the salary hit on this one.

The Magic could definitely use John Wall since their whole team is in shambles and they could potentially build with him being their veteran leader, but the chances of this happening are very slim, as the Magic like their current group of young players and will look to get them as much playing time as possible next season.
