Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers tried their hardest to trade for Kyle Lowry at this year’s NBA trade deadline, but they were unable to convince the Raptors to trade the 6x All-Star point guard. As a result, they could look to make another push to bring Lowry “back home” in free agency. Lowry grew up in Philadelphia and went to Villanova, so going back to Philly could definitely interest him, especially with the 76ers being a true championship contender and not going anywhere anytime soon.

The 76ers are already expected to be over the salary cap come free agency in the offseason and not have much other than their MLE to sign a player or two with, which is why they could look to execute a sign-and-trade for Lowry.

Danny Green is going to be a free agent, freeing up $15.3M in cap space, George Hill’s contract is partially-guaranteed, freeing up close to $10M in cap space should the Sixers waive him and the 76ers could still be willing to move guys like Seth Curry and Tyrese Maxey in order to acquire Lowry.

Getting Kyle Lowry would be a dream come true for the 76ers and would definitely make them the team to beat in the entire league. With Lowry, Simmons, Harris and Embiid all healthy and on the court, the Sixers would have plenty of firepower offensively and they would also be one of the better, more active defensive teams in the league.

While it would cost them a ton of money in taxes to field this time, the 76ers would have everything they need to contend for a title. The 76ers definitely are a team to watch this offseason in terms of pursuing Kyle Lowry.
