The Chicago Bulls pulled off the first big blockbuster of the 2021 NBA Trade Deadline when they acquired All-Star center, Nikola Vucevic, from the Orlando Magic. Many teams would be content with acquiring a player of that caliber, but the Bulls don’t sound like they are done.
Adrian Wojnarowski, via NBA Central, reports that the Bulls are still in pursuit of New Orleans Pelicans point guard, Lonzo Ball. Legion Hoops reports that Lauri Markkanen has been mentioned heavily in trade talks between the two teams.
Landing Lonzo Ball would give the Bulls quite a dynamic Big 3 alongside Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic. Ball’s skill set would work well alongside virtually anyone, but he would be an exceptionally strong fit alongside those two as he is an elite playmaker, strong defender and improving 3-point shooter.
The Bulls are assuredly not the only team that would be interested in acquiring Ball, who is heading into restricted free agency this summer and have been linked to him in NBA trade rumors. The New York Knicks and Ball reportedly have a mutual interest in each other as well as New York seeks to fill what has seemingly been a multiple decade hole at the point guard position.

The former UCLA Bruin is having the best shooting season of his career, knocking down 42.5 percent of his shots overall and 38.5 percent of his 3-point attempts. Even his free throw shooting has improved a lot, where he is now making 76.7 percent. He is adding 5.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game as well.
The Bulls have made their intentions clear with the acquisition of Vucevic that they want to make the playoffs this season. Adding a player such as Ball to their roster would further improve their chances of making that into a reality as they would have a floor general to help lead the team.
