Aaron Gordon ‘eager’ to be traded to the Celtics

The Boston Celtics have been hot in pursuit of Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon over the last few days. While many believe that a trade could get done prior to the deadline, others think that Danny Ainge will once again let a trade fall through the cracks.

Despite the pessimism of some around the league and in Boston, it sounds like Gordon is hoping for the trade to go through.

According to a report from Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Gordon is “eager” to be traded to the Celtics at the deadline. They certainly would be a good fit for him.

Gordon has reportedly requested a trade from the Magic and they are working hard to grant him his wish. The Celtics may be the top potential landing spot, but they are not the only team interested in him. In fact, the Denver Nuggets are reportedly emerging as a favorite to trade for him.

So far this season with the Magic, Aaron Gordon has put up solid all-around numbers. He has averaged 14.6 points per game to go along with 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists. In addition to those averages, Gordon has shot 43.7 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from three-point range.

At 25 years of age, there is no question that Gordon would be worth the price for the Celtics. Ainge always seems to balk last second at trades, but this is one that he should not run away from. Gordon would be a good fit both now and long-term.

With the trade deadline just a few hours away, this will be a fun situation to keep an eye on. It seems likely that Gordon will end up being traded, but will the Celtics be the team that lands him?

Expect to hear more rumors come out about Aaron Gordon in the near future. The Celtics would like to get something done, but it very rarely happens. Perhaps this will be an exception.
