76ers, Lakers, Heat engage in ‘serious’ trade talks for Kyle Lowry

The Toronto Raptors have been very active in trade talks surrounding star point guard Kyle Lowry over the last few days. With the NBA trade deadline just a few hours away, things are picking up. At this point in time, the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers are all in “serious” talks with the Raptors.

According to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic, all three teams are talking with the Raptors just ahead of the deadline.

Lowry would be an excellent addition for all three of the teams listed. All of them could use some help at the point guard position and it doesn’t get much better midseason than a six-time All-Star like Lowry.

Throughout this entire process, the 76ers have consistently been named the best potential landing spot for Lowry. They are one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference and playing alongside Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons would be a perfect fit. Lowry would give them more three-point shooting and an excellent veteran leader.

For the Lakers, trading for Kyle Lowry would give them a star to help them weather the storm of injuries to Anthony Davis and LeBron James. When Davis and James return, he would be a perfect fit at the point guard position.

Finally, the Heat have been picking things up of late and appear to be a serious contender in the East once again. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo would be ecstatic to form a “Big Three” with Lowry. It’s another match made in heaven for the veteran star.

So far this season with the Raptors, Lowry has averaged 17.4 points, 7.5 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game. He has shot 43.9 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 39.5 percent of his three-point attempts.

Those numbers show why the 76ers, Heat, and Lakers would love to add him. He can score and create for teammates. His energy and leadership would be valuable for all three teams as well.

Expect to continue hearing more about the Kyle Lowry trade talks in the coming hours. It seems very likely the Raptors will end up dealing him and one of these three teams should end up getting him if a deal is made.
