Kyle Lowry has been a hot name ahead of the upcoming NBA trade deadline and it appears that the Toronto Raptors could actually move him. While teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Clippers have been the most rumored landing spots, the Los Angeles Lakers are a team to keep a close eye on.

According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Lakers are still a team that could make a push to acquire Lowry from the Raptors.

“Don’t rule the Lakers out of a Kyle Lowry trade.”

Why would the Lakers get involved in such a big trade for a player making big money on an expiring contract? Quite simply, they are in panic mode a bit.

LeBron James was keeping them towards the top of the Western Conference even with the injury issues that Anthony Davis is dealing with. Unfortunately, James is now injured as well. Without their two superstars, the Lakers are in a world of hurt.

Adding a star like Kyle Lowry would help them weather the storm until James and Davis are able to return to the court. Lowry would be able to come in and be a focal point for the offense. Even when they return, his ability to score, shoot, and create would be an ideal fit.

So far this season with the Raptors, Lowry has averaged 17.6 points per game to go along with 7.4 assists and 5.6 rebounds. He has shot 43.8 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 39.1 percent of his three-point attempts.

At 34 years old, Lowry would likely welcome a trade to a serious NBA Finals contender. He is in the latter stages of his career and the Raptors are going nowhere this season.

Expect to hear more rumors about Kyle Lowry as the trade deadline heats up even more. The Lakers may not get seriously involved in trade discussions, but it would make a lot of sense.
