This Bulls-Spurs trade is centered on LaMarcus Aldridge

The San Antonio Spurs have been one of the most successful NBA franchises over the last two decades. They did not qualify for the postseason a year ago and this is something they could look to change this year. After a strong first half of the season, they could look to the Chicago Bulls for help retooling the roster.

The Spurs are currently 22-17 in a difficult Western Conference. They loaded up on veteran players and this means they will have a chance to make some moves at the NBA trade deadline. DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge are two names that come to mind immediately.

DeMar DeRozan has been at the forefront of NBA trade rumors because of his alleged unhappiness with the franchise. This means San Antonio could begin to lean on young options like Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson. If they want to trade these veterans, there will be some teams interested right away.

The Bulls are 18-22 this season but that puts them in a playoff race in a weak Eastern Conference. They are only 1.5 games out of the eighth spot in the postseason. This means they could decide to hang onto their big names and look to add another impact performer.

LaMarcus Aldridge could be that name. He is a veteran who could give the Bulls another player on both ends of the floor. Both Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen are in the midst of good seasons and Billy Donovan has the team competing to this point.

This would be an intriguing move for both sides. Let’s take a look and see how it might workout at the deadline.
