This Kings-Pacers trade is focused on Harrison Barnes

Justin Holiday, Pacers

Why this trade makes sense for the Sacramento Kings

While the Kings have a really solid starting rotation in De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, Marvin Bagley III and Richaun Holmes, this team does not really have any reliable options to turn to for production on their bench.

Sacramento ranks 28th in the league in bench points per game this season and as a result, they find themselves struggling to stay relevant in a crowded Western Conference. The future is definitely bright for the Kings and they are close to finally ending their 14-year playoff drought, but it is looking like their playoff drought will rise to 15-years after this season.

They just do not have enough production to beat out some of the other teams fighting for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, which is why Sacramento should do everything to try and restock for a playoff push next season.

Trading Harrison Barnes and his rather large contract for some solid role players in Justin Holiday and Jeremy Lamb definitely gives the Kings a lot of value because it gives them two guys who are more than capable of holding things down in the Kings’ second-unit.

Both Holiday and Lamb combined are averaging 22.3 points per game and both guys are shooting over 40% from three-point range this year, which is exactly why they could be impactful players for the Kings.

Getting these two guys for depth and a future first-round pick is great value both now and in the future for a player like Harrison Barnes, which is why Sacramento should be very interested in dealing him at the NBA trade deadline.
