This Lakers-Spurs trade is centered on Patty Mills

Since NBA superstar Anthony Davis injured his calf against the Denver Nuggets on Feb. 14, the Lakers are 3-7, including the loss to Denver. For the season, the Lakers are averaging 111.4 points per game, but since that Nuggets game, they are averaging just 106.7 points per game and have taken a hit defensively as well.

Of course, anytime you lose a superstar, All-Star player like Anthony Davis, your team is going to struggle, but this team really has a lack of scoring when one of their core players are out. In some of those games that Davis missed, Dennis Schroder was also out due to health and safety protocols, leaving the Lakers with virtually no production outside of LeBron James.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been mentioned in NBA trade rumors as being in the market for another frontcourt player, not just because Anthony Davis is still out but because of the underwhelming play of Marc Gasol, but this team could really benefit from adding another reliable backcourt player as well.

With all of the talented teams competing for a championship this year, the Lakers will have to be willing to make some big moves over the next few weeks if they are to have a shot at defending their championship.

As a result, veteran guard Patty Mills could be a realistic trade target for them. Now in his 12th season, Mills is averaging 13.3 points, 2.6 assists and is shooting 40.3% from three-point range, making him one of the best bench players in the entire league.

So what would the Lakers have to give up to acquire the veteran guard? Let’s take a look at a Lakers-Spurs trade that is centered around Patty Mills.
