Why This Trade Would Make Sense For The Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings aren’t quite contenders yet, but they could be very soon if they make a trade like this. The Kings have Harrison Barnes currently under contract through 2023, but they could free up a lot of money by dumping the majority of his four year, 85 million dollar contract to the Celtics.
The Kings would also be receiving some very good developmental prospects in Romeo Langford and Carsen Edwards in this trade and the 2021 first round pick always adds a nice touch of flavor to a deal.
One of the main appeals of the Celtics as a trade suitor is the large trade exception they gained from the Gordon Hayward sign-and-trade deal with the Charlotte Hornets. Sacramento wouldn’t necessarily have to take on a lot of salary to complete a deal..

The Kings could stack their prospects and use their freed up money to pursue a marquee free agent this offseason. The Kings aren’t far from being a contender in the Western Conference, and this trade could speed that process up.
