The Boston Celtics have begun to right the ship as they headed into the NBA All-Star break with some positive momentum. The team won four consecutive games and is getting things back on track.

Boston had two All-Stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, which is a solid foundation despite some harsh comments from an anonymous NBA player. Kemba Walker is rounding back into shape after an offseason knee procedure. However, they don’t have the look of a team that can make a run in the Eastern Conference.

Their general manager, Danny Ainge, said as much himself. The current roster that he put together isn’t good enough to win and the team’s shortcomings can be placed on him.

Knowing he needs to make a move, he has been active on the trade market. While nothing has come to fruition just yet, Ainge said that he has come close. You can add another bullet to the come close section.

According to Detroit Pistons beat writer James Edwards III of The Athletic, the Celtics are being aggressive in their pursuit of Pistons’ forward, Jerami Grant. During an appearance on the A-List Podcast on CLNS Media with A. Sherrod Blakley and Kwani Lunis, Ewards revealed what the Celtics have been offering.

“I believe the Celtics have offered multiple first for him (Grant),” said Edwards. “I don’t know what multiple means, it could be two it could be three.”

“Boston seems like a team that is very very very desperate to get him,” Edwards told Blakely and Lunis. “I don’t think a team is willing to go where it takes to get him.”

It would be shocking if the Pistons moved on from Grant during his first season with the team after signing him to a lucrative contract during free agency. Grant wanted an expanded role offensively, Detroit offered it to him and he has not disappointed, as he is having a career season.

It sounds as if the Pistons are willing to listen to offers for anyone on the roster, but Grant is expected to remain with the team.

“We were just on a zoom with Troy Weaver the Pistons GM, and he basically said there are guys who are going to be here for a while but no one is untouchable,” Edward said of Weaver. “I don’t think Grant is on another team starting in April.”

Boston is being aggressive as they need to add some pieces to the roster to reach contender status again. Grant would provide the team with another player capable of creating shots for himself that can also play some defense.

He would be an excellent addition to the Celtics frontcourt, but it is unlikely he lands there. Ainge has not ponied up when it came to landing superstar-level players, it is hard to imagine him bucking up and landing a player who is having a great season but has not yet reached All-Star status or helped his team win many games.
