PJ Tucker – Houston Rockets

With the Houston Rockets looking to “clean house” on a bunch of larger contracts and veteran players as they look to rebuild, PJ Tucker is a player that is expected to be on the move near the NBA trade deadline. The only reason he is an under-the-radar target for the Suns is because Phoenix has not expressed interest in any player around the league and could be a “dark-horse” to trade for Tucker.

PJ Tucker has been a great player for the Houston Rockets for numerous years now, but with them declining to offer him a contract-extension this past offseason, he has been unhappy since then and would likely be fine with being traded.

The only question is what the asking price for the veteran forward is. Some reports have said the Rockets want a first-round pick for him while other rumors say that the Rockets are looking for a second-round pick and a young talent, so nobody really knows what kind of market Tucker holds.

For a guy that only averages 4.4 points per game, it would be expected that his value would not be too high, but PJ Tucker impacts games in more ways than one. He can pass, rebound, shoot three-point shots from the corner, can play physical one-on-one defense, make plays for his teammates and the list goes on.

He is the epitome of what a “glue guy” is in basketball and could be a great, veteran addition for the Phoenix Suns as they look to make a deep playoff push. Tucker has been a part of numerous championship caliber teams in Houston and knows what it takes to make a deep postseason run.

Adding him and his experiences to a roster that has minimal playoff experience outside of Chris Paul could be extremely important and exactly what they need not only on the court, but in their locker room as well. Several teams have expressed interest in PJ Tucker, so if the Suns really want him, they will have to act fairly quickly to potentially trade for the veteran forward.
