The Philadelphia 76ers have been active in trade rumors over the last couple of weeks. As they look to round out their roster to compete for an NBA Finals appearance this season, another move or two seems to be of interest. One player to keep a close eye on is Denver Nuggets wing Will Barton.

According to a report from Jason Dumas of Bleacher Report, the 76ers are eyeing a potential trade for Barton ahead of the trade deadline.

“Based on conversations with sources close to the team, they are not content with their current roster,” Dumas wrote. “A source tells B/R the team has inquired about the availability of Will Barton, P.J. Tucker, Delon Wright and George Hill.”

Obviously, Barton is not the only player that they are interested in trading for. They are also interested in three other veteran players who could come in and help them compete now. Barton is just the latest name to be thrown into the mix.

Barton has played in 33 games with the Nuggets this season, starting in 29 of those appearances. He has averaged 11.6 points per game to go along with 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists. In addition to those averages, he has shot 44.2 percent from the floor and 38.8 percent from three-point range.

At 30 years old, Will Barton would be an excellent addition for the 76ers. He would add more scoring and much-needed depth. Those are two things that Philadelphia needs to focus on adding to perfect their roster.

Following the 2020-21 season, Barton does have a player option that he could use to test free agency. However, the final year of his current deal is worth just under $14.7 million. It seems unlikely that he will opt out, which would give the 76ers a second full year with him if they acquire him from the Nuggets.

It will be interesting to see what the 76ers end up doing at the trade deadline. Barton certainly would be a good and intriguing fit. This is something to keep a close eye on.

Expect to see trade rumors start heating up aggressively around the NBA. The trade deadline is coming up quickly and the 76ers are one of the teams most motivated to make a move.
