John Wall – Houston Rockets

After getting traded to the Rockets ahead of the season for Russell Westbrook, nobody really knew what kind of player John Wall was going to be since he had not played in a year or so due to an Achilles injury. In the 25 games Wall has played in this season with the Rockets, he has looked fantastic and it does not appear that he has any limitations on the court.

John Wall is currently averaging 21.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists and is shooting 42.4% from the floor, 34.0% from three-point range. The 30-year old point guard has been one of the only productive players on the Heat this season and as a result, has begun to pop up in some trade rumors.

It definitely would not be a bad idea for the Rockets to trade Wall while his value is high, especially since he is now in his 30’s and has suffered some major injuries in his career. According to Heat Nation, John Wall has been mentioned in NBA trade rumors as a “potential target” for the Heat ahead of the trade deadline.

It seems weird that the Heat would be interested in pursuing Wall, especially since they have Goran Dragic, Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Herro in the backcourt, along with veteran guard Avery Bradley, who is currently injured, but Wall brings a different dynamic to the Heat that none of these guys listed above can do.

Not only is he an extremely athletic basketball player, but John Wall is a great facilitator on the court and uses his athleticism to draw a lot of attention to himself. Having another floor general alongside Jimmy Butler not only opens up the court a lot more for some of the Heat’s premier three-point shooters, but allows them to be a team that can push the tempo and dictate the pace of the game.

Trading for John Wall definitely brings a good amount of benefits to the Miami Heat, the only question though is if he would have too high of an asking price. The Rockets want young players and draft picks and the Miami Heat may not be willing to invest some of their highly talented young players for a veteran guard like John Wall who has missed a lot of time over the years.
