Warriors interested in trading for Rockets’ star Victor Oladipo

The Golden State Warriors are going to be a very interesting team to keep an eye on with the NBA trade deadline coming up quickly. There have been quite a few rumors surrounding the Warriors, but there is a new one to take note of. Golden State is interested in trading for Houston Rockets star shooting guard Victor Oladipo.

Oladipo has been mentioned as a potential trade target for the Warriors in the past. However, no one truly thought that they would pursue him. Now, it appears that they are going to do just that.

According to a report from Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Warriors do indeed have interest in trading for Oladipo.

Stephen Curry could use more help and the Warriors appear to be trying to get him just that. Oladipo may not be the player he once was before his ruptured quad injury, but he is still a capable scorer and creator.

Oladipo is in the final year of his contract and many believe that he will find his way to the Miami Heat in the upcoming offseason. That makes trading for him a half-year rental. If the Warriors are fine with that, then this deal makes perfect sense.

Klay Thompson will be back next season for the Warriors. Acquiring Victor Oladipo now and having him for the rest of this season would make a lot of sense, depending on the price tag. However, the Warriors must be sure that they are not overpaying.

So far this season since being traded to the Rockets, Oladipo has played in 15 games. He has averaged 19.9 points per game to go along with 4.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.4 steals. Oladipo has shot 38.7 percent from the floor and knocked down 31.3 percent of his three-point attempts.

Needless to say, this would be a risky trade. But, the Warriors will need to take risks if they want to compete in the Western Conference this year.

Expect to hear more about the Victor Oladipo situation with the Rockets soon. Plenty of teams will come calling with trade interest, and the Warriors are obviously one of them.
