Why This Trade Would Make Sense For The Toronto Raptors
This is a good trade for the Toronto Raptors because they could potentially have a franchise center to build around if their flyer pays off. If it doesn’t pay off, all they gave up was a first round draft pick and a center with an expiring contract.
The Raptors are a team in the playoff race in the Eastern Conference and the Orlando Magic are not and haven’t been since Mo Bamba’s entrance into the league. With Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol both gone, Toronto could use a long-term frontcourt answer alongside Pascal Siakam.
If the Raptors trust their coaching staff to take some time and truly develop Bamba, then they could get a steal for a top tier center in the NBA. There is substantial appeal when it comes to Bamba’s potential because of his incredible wingspan and flashes he’s shown as a shooter at times.
