This Celtics-Hawks trade is centered on John Collins

After reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the third time in the last four seasons last year, the Boston Celtics came up short of their ultimate goal of making it to the NBA Finals once again. Entering this season, the Celtics were pretty much the same team, minus Gordon Hayward, from a season ago and they have really struggled.

Outside of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker, this Celtics team has almost no production and as a result, they are currently 17-17 and fighting to be in the playoff picture right now. For a team with championship aspirations, the Boston Celtics do not look anything at all like a championship contender and they will have to make a big move near the trade deadline to change this.

They have the star power to be a lego championship contender, but these three guys cannot carry the Celtics. Their bench is one of the worst in the league and if they do not make any significant changes to their roster near the trade deadline, then this Boston team may not even make the playoffs at this rate!

Losing Marcus Smart to a calf injury has definitely impacted this team and when he returns, they will be in a better spot, but they will still be missing that other “go-to” player on their roster. As a result, the Celtics could be very much in-play to pull off a blockbuster trade at the deadline, which could result in them acquiring John Collins from the Hawks.

This past offseason, John Collins declined to agree to a $90M contract extension with the Hawks, leading to a bunch of rumors that he may be unsettled in Atlanta. With plenty of NBA trade rumors circulating around his future and the Hawks being an up-and-down team this season, could they look to move their young forward now while his value is at an all-time high?

Let’s take a look at one of the better trades the Boston Celtics could offer the Atlanta Hawks in attempts to acquire John Collins, giving them a fighting chance for a title this season.
