The Toronto Raptors have been mentioned heavily in trade rumors surrounding star point guard Kyle Lowry. While it appears that the two sides both want to part ways, the franchise wants to make sure they give Lowry a chance to compete. At this point in time, the Philadelphia 76ers are atop Lowry’s wishlist.
According to a report from Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer, Lowry would like to be traded to the 76ers ahead of the trade deadline.
“A source said Kyle Lowry would like to be in Philly. The source believes the Sixers and Raptors might be able to get something done. But if it comes to that, Toronto would most likely want some picks, young players, and veterans with expiring contracts.”
Lowry has been having a solid season with the Raptors so far this year. He has averaged 18.0 points per game to go along with 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds. In addition to those numbers, he has shot 46.1 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 39.5 percent of his three-point attempts.
At 34 years old, Lowry still has quite a bit of good basketball left in him. If the 76ers were able to acquire him, he would give them a huge boost offensively.
If a trade were to happen, Kyle Lowry would slide right in as the 76ers’ starting point guard. Ben Simmons would be able to play more off the ball. When Simmons does handle the ball, Lowry would be able to thrive as a spot-up shooter.
Needless to say, a move to the 76ers would give Lowry a chance to compete. That is something that the Raptors want to make sure they do. Lowry has meant a lot to their franchise and they want to do right by him.
Other teams that could be in the market to trade for Lowry are the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat. Any of those three destinations would be ideal fit Lowry.
Expect to hear more rumors surrounding the Raptors, 76ers, and Kyle Lowry as the trade deadline draws closer. There is a good chance that something could happen soon.
