Does This Trade Make Sense For The Miami Heat?

So far this season, injuries and safety protocols have decimated this Heat team and only Duncan Robinson and Precious Achiuwa have played in all 31 games for them this year. Herro has dealt with neck and hip injuries this year and while he has only played in 22 games, he is currently the third best scorer on this Heat team.

Herro is averaging 16.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and is shooting 45.1% from the floor this season. He is shooting just 34.4% from three-point range though, which could definitely be a cause for concern. Herro is supposed to be a dynamic perimeter shooter for the Heat and his lack of production and inconsistency has definitely been a yellow flag.

The 21-year old guard’s value is at an all-time high right now, which is why they could potentially look to leverage him in a trade for an established, high-level talent like Myles Turner. Adding Turner could be a huge addition for the Heat and give them that third high-level talent they need to be a legit playoff team this year.

Trading away Tyler Herro, Kelly Olynyk and a future first-round pick with protection on it would definitely be great value for a player like Myles Turner, which is why this trade makes perfect sense for the Miami Heat.

Turner is a better overall player than Kelly Olynyk and has the ability to play alongside Bam Adebayo in the frontcourt. The Heat would have a two-headed monster in terms of shot-blockers in Turner and Adebayo and they would have two legit low-post threats that can also step outside the paint and knock down shots.

While this team as a whole would be less versatile in terms of getting production from the perimeter, they could turn themselves into one of the better defensive teams in the league, which is exactly what they need to do since they are not extremely gifted on offense.

Making this trade with the Pacers should give the Heat enough talent and firepower to not only make the playoffs, but potentially go on another postseason run like they did last year when they reached the NBA Finals as the 5-seed in the Eastern Conference.
