This Hornets-Lakers trade sends Bismack Biyombo to L.A.

Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Lakers

With Anthony Davis being out, it is a no-brainer for the Lakers to want to add another reliable shot-blocker to their team and with him having a small salary this year, Bismack Biyombo is probably one of the better, more affordable players the Lakers could trade for.

Giving up Markieff Morris and Alfonzo McKinnie also does not hurt the Lakers really since McKinnie does not play at all and Morris has a minimal role with this team. He is a great locker room guy and a key veteran player, but with Talen Horton-Tucker and Kyle Kuzma getting more time on the wing, Morris is just a bench player that plays when this team has injuries.

For the cost of two bench players and a future second-round pick, the Lakers can get a reliable shot-blocker that could not only help them with AD being out now, but down the road as well given his abilities to come off-the-bench.

The 6-foot-8 center is very lengthy, hence why he is a good shot-blocker, but could also make a small impact on the offensive end of the court being the recipient of a couple LeBron James lob passes to the rim.

If the Lakers want to add another defensive-minded player to their front-court in AD’s absence, then it makes sense for them to target a guy like Bismack Biyombo, but if they do not want to shake things up roster wise, they do have the roster to be able to still produce with their All-Star big man being out.
