This Knicks-Rockets trade sends Victor Oladipo to NYC

With Julius Randle having an NBA All-Star like season, RJ Barrett continuing to grow into a fantastic young player and other young talents stepping up into bigger roles this year, the New Knicks have the makings of a potential playoff team this year. Tom Thibodeau has done a fantastic job with this young roster and has turned the Knicks into a defensive powerhouse.

They are currently giving up the least amount of points per game to their opponents and overall, rank 4th in defensive efficiency this year. Defense has been the anchor for the Knicks and has elevated them to a 14-16 record.

There is a lot to like about this year’s team if you are a Knicks fan, but moving forward, if this team is ever going to get back to being one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, then they are going to have to be willing to make a big move and bring in one or two superstar type players. The Knicks have the resources and trade assets to be able to pull off a big time trade, the only question that remains is if they will be willing to make that move now. If so, they will be a team to watch in NBA trade rumors.

This season, it is extremely important that the Knicks finish with a winning record and at least contend for a playoff spot because they have a legit chance to land some big names in free agency and via trades in future years. Plenty of big time players have wanted to come to New York and play in MSG, but none of them want to play for a losing organization.
