This Pelicans-Rockets trade is focused on Eric Gordon to New Orleans

The New Orleans Pelicans and Houston Rockets are two teams who are on the playoff bubble. The Pelicans currently sit eleventh in the Western Conference while the Houston Rockets sit in 13th place. These two organization could get involved in some moves around the NBA trade deadline.

Neither of these teams are looking too promising as far as playoffs are concerned this year, but a trade deadline deal could set these two teams up nicely for their futures.

Eric Gordon has four years left on his current contract including this season and could give a team like the Pelicans a great weapon to build around. He isn’t the name that has been mentioned in NBA trade rumors but it could benefit Houston to move on from his contract.

The Pelicans need consistent players who know what it takes to win games. Eric Gordon is one of the most experienced players in the NBA and has been a staple of the Houston Rockets for years. Gordon, in 2021, is averaging 18.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists for the Rockets.

Eric Gordon and the New Orleans Pelicans could form a reunion in 2021 and a deal between these two teams could make a lot of sense. It’s a completely different team than it was when he was last there but he could help the new stars like Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.

Here’s a look at what it could take to land Eric Gordon in New Orleans for a second stint.
