Why This Trade Makes Sense For The New York Knicks

The Knicks have already made it known that they are looking to trade Kevin Knox, so why not get another young talent that has potential to grow? Talen Horton-Tucker is definitely a young player with a lot of potential, but he may not reach his full potential with the Lakers.

They have too many weapons on that team to give Horton-Tucker the minutes he needs to grow, which is why trading him to the Knicks could be beneficial for both parties. The 20-year old wing has not really been given any opportunities to prove himself with L.A. but with the Knicks, he could fill-in as a bench player quite nicely.

The best part of Horton-Tucker’s game is that he has a “score-first” mentality, which is exactly what the Knicks need from their young players. They are a very defensive focused team, which is a part of Horton-Tucker’s game that he needs to expand on, but he could give them a lift off-the-bench offensively.

He has a lot of potential to grow into a very solid role player, which is why getting him in exchange for Knox is worthwhile. Jared Dudley is also a valuable player to have on the Knicks roster because he is another veteran talent that can really help this young team in the locker room.

The Lakers really liked having Dudley around their championship team last year because he was a great mentor for some of their younger players and everyone in the locker room enjoyed having him around. He could not only do the same for the Knicks, but he could also help them get better defensively as he has been a part of the Lakers, a great defensive team, and knows what it takes.

Overall, the Lakers are probably not in a position to make any kinds of trades right now since they are in title contention, but this is definitely not a bad trade for the Knicks, They would be giving up some second-round picks, but Talen Horton-Tucker is another young talent they could add to their roster and look to utilize for years to come.
