Why This Trade Would Benefit The Portland Trail Blazers

When looking at the Portland Trail Blazers, it is a team that should be better than they are. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum are two elite guards leading the way but have been unable to take the next step in the playoffs.

They were the eighth seed last year and are off to a 17-10 start this season. There is a chance that Portland looks to make a move at the deadline. The Trail Blazers have not been linked to any big-name players coming to town. If anything, there were minimal NBA trade rumors about Damian Lillard or CJ McCollum being sent away.

Robert Covington is a short-term option for Portland and if they can get anything back from him, it would be a win. This includes young players or draft picks. In this particular deal, Portland will be set up with both.

Portland has what it takes to win but will have to make a few more moves. The Western Conference is extremely tough and Portland needs to build around Lillard, who continues to be one of the best point guard in the league.
