This Clippers-Sixers trade sends Lou Williams to Philadelphia

Not only are the Philadelphia 76ers real championship contenders this season, but Joel Embiid has emerged as a true MVP candidate. The Sixers big man is currently 3rd in the NBA in scoring and leads all centers in the NBA in points and player efficiency rating.

Joel Embiid has scored in double-figures in all but one game this season and currently has a streak of 11 games with 25+ points. He has been one of the most dominant players in the NBA this season, which is why he is currently one of the favorites to win the league MVP award.

The 26-year old big man has been the leader of this 76ers franchise this year and they will go as far as he is able to take them. All the success this team has revolves around him, but with Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons playing at a high-level as well, there is no reason why the Sixers should not make the Eastern Conference Finals.

With numerous offensive threats now on the roster the 76ers look like a true championship contender, but may not be done searching for talent just yet. This past offseason, they added Seth Curry, Danny Green and Dwight Howard, but Philly could still be in the market to add a veteran talent to their roster.

The Philadelphia 76ers are $34.9M over the salary cap and do not have a lot of room to bring in players with big contracts, but a veteran guy like Lou Williams, who is owed $8M this season is very do-able.

The 3x Sixth Man of the Year is in the final year of his contract and for the right price, the Clippers could be willing to trade him since his value is still high. Can the 76ers get even better and add another high-level player to their roster? Let’s take a look at what this trade could possibly look like.
