Luka Doncic is an NBA superstar after just two seasons in the league and this season, he is a legit MVP candidate for the Dallas Mavericks. While Luka is continuing to play at a high level, the Mavericks though have been struggling and find themselves near the bottom of the “food chain” in the Western Conference.
This team has dealt with a lot of injuries and players being out due to health and safety protocols, but overall, the lack of talent on this roster on the offensive end of the court this season is very clear. After ranking 3rd in the league in scoring a season ago and being one of the better overall offensive teams in the league, the Mavs currently rank 20th in the league in scoring and dead-last in the league in three-point shooting.
With Kristaps Porzingis still working his way back to full strength on the court, the Mavericks do not have anybody else other than Luka Doncic that they feel comfortable with having the ball in their hands. As a result, Dallas really needs to make a big move near the NBA trade deadline if they are going to live up to the hype and potentially reach the playoffs.
While he may not be that hot of a name on the trade market and not viewed highly anymore, Kevin Love could still bring a lot of value to a team looking to make the playoffs like the Mavericks. He is a career 37% shooter from three-point range and given his skills to be an excellent rebounder as well, he could be that third scoring option this team needs.
Given his contract size and the amount of talent the Cavs have in their frontcourt, they should be very much willing to listen to offers for Kevin Love. With that being said, let’s take a look at a potential trade between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks involving Kevin Love.
