Why This Trade Would Benefit The Houston Rockets
There are changes happening all throughout the Rockets franchise in Houston. It began with Russell Westbrook being sent away and continued with James Harden. Before that, the front office got a new makeover and Stephen Silas was hired as the head coach. Now, they have to put the right players on the floor in order to succeed.
Christian Wood is looking like a great signing thus far. He is averaging 22 points and 10.5 rebounds per game this season. The Most Improved Player candidate, along with John Wall, has looked like a strong duo. Houston loaded up on draft capital in the Harden deal and quickly acquired Victor Oladipo as well.
With Victor Oladipo being a free agent at the end of the season, the team has plenty of options for him. Veteran players like Eric Gordon would also be able to be sent away for a return. This would act as a salary dump and land them some more assets.
In this case, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is a strong three-point shooter that would be able to replace Eric Gordon on the perimeter. Jared Dudley and a second-round pick are pieces that could be flipped in another deal if they find one. The front office has been very busy in Houston and this could continue as we approach the NBA trade deadline.
