This Heat-Mavericks trade is centered around Kristaps Porzingis

The Miami Heat need to make something happen at the NBA trade deadline. After a trip to the NBA Finals down in the bubble, they are off to a slow start and the season could get late very early on them. This is a franchise that has a history of making blockbuster deals in another one could be in store very soon.

Miami has not looked right since the beginning of the season. Inconsistencies have been visible but the team is finally starting to get healthy. Jimmy Butler missed some time but has been back in the lineup while Bam Adebayo is still playing at a high rate.

Second-year players like Tyler Herro and Kendrick Nunn are showing that they are the real deal for the future. The Heat have been linked to many big-name players, both in trades and free agency, so it is up to the front office to find the right deal.

The Miami Heat could look to Dallas and contact the Mavericks. Like Miami, Dallas was able to make some noise in the postseason in the form of a six-game series with a Los Angeles Clippers.

Luka Doncic proved that he is one of the best players in the league and is backing up that notion again averaging 27.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 9.3 assists per game. He is the cornerstone player and will not be going anywhere for a long time. The same cannot be said about Kristaps Porzingis.

Since being acquired from the New York Knicks, Porzingis has played at a high-level but has struggled to stay healthy. His impact is undeniable when he’s in a rhythm and is moving fluidly. However, the rate that actually happens could justify second guesses about his long-term future.

If Dallas gets impatient with Porzingis, they could look to send him away while his value is still skyhigh. Miami could be a fit for the big man.
