Will Barton – Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have been a very streaky team this year in large part because of the departure of Jerami Grant. This was a big loss for the Nuggets in the offseason and while it was expected that Michael Porter Jr. would make a big jump this year with Grant being gone, Porter Jr. has not been on the court much due to health and safety protocols.

As a result, Will Barton has seen his role with the Nuggets expand and he has been making the most of this opportunity. Barton finds himself as the fourth best scoring this season on the Nuggets and with his value very high, Denver could look to trade him in order to get Michael Porter Jr. more minutes.

Through the years, Will Barton has been a really solid and consistent player for the Nuggets on the wing, but he has dealt with his fair share of injuries. When he is healthy, he is definitely an x-factor for the Nuggets and could be an impact player for any team needing wing depth to add.

The 30-year old wing has always been known to be a reliable three-point shooter, as he has averaged 35% from deep over the course of his career, but it is the improvements he has made on the defensive side of the ball that has made him a valuable asset.

Barton has been getting better and better on the defensive end of the court, which is what makes him an interesting trade target. “3-and-D” wings are hard to come by in today’s NBA, which is why the Nuggets could actually receive a lucrative trade package in exchange for Barton.

After just making the Western Conference Finals last season, it may not be in the best interest of the Nuggets to trade Barton, but his value is at an all-time high and numerous teams are reportedly interested in trading for him. It should be interesting to monitor what the Nuggets do as we get closer to the trade deadline.
