Why This Trade Would Benefit The Miami Heat

The Miami Heat made a surprise run to the finals last season, which makes them a win-now team. They came to the season with high hopes but have not played up to their normal level just yet. Whatever the reason may be, it does not matter as we approach the NBA trade deadline.

The Heat are not strangers when it comes to blockbuster deals and another one could be in store here. The point guard position was one that the Heat were worried about in the offseason until they brought Goran Dragic back. Russell Westbrook would be an instant improvement for the rest of the season.

Jimmy Butler has struggled with the injuries the season but his limited scoring impact just isn’t enough. The duo of Bam Adebayo and Bradley Beal would be one of the most exciting in the league. Beal is off to another great start this season — proving that he is one of the elite scorers in the league.

Butler is now 31-years-old and the longer the Miami Heat wait, the lesser his trade value is going to be. The Eastern Conference is changing and explosive scoring is required, Butler just hasn’t been that kind of player consistently enough as of late. Bradley Beal, on the other hand, is more than capable but plays for a Wizards team that lacks talent around him.

The best player on the Miami Heat is now Bam Adebayo and the focus of the their roster construction needs to be him. Beal, 27, aligns much better with Adebayo’s timeline than Jimmy Butler and Beal has quite frankly surpassed Butler offensively and aligns with what they need long-term.
