Signing Jerami Grant in the offseason is looking like the best move made by any front-office this year and the Pistons have found their star to build with for the future. Not only has he been sensational for a mediocre Pistons squad, but Jerami Grant is likely going to be a first-time All-Star this season.

The only problem with the Pistons though is that they are still searching for complementary players to surround Grant with and Blake Griffin’s $36.5M contract does not help the cause. His contract is just eating up valuable cap space, which is why they should look to trade him away somewhere for salary relief.

Being able to acquire another All-Star level talent in DeMar DeRozan to pair with Jerami Grant could not only give the Pistons a great “one-two punch” on the wing, but create a mismatch nightmare for other teams in the league. Both DeRozan and Grant would be able to get the matchups they want if they were playing together and as a result, they could finally turn things around for the Pistons.

No to mention, Pistons head coach Dwane Casey coached DeMar DeRozan for seven years when he was with the Toronto Raptors. Both Casey and DeRozan have a great relationship with one-another, which could be another benefit for the Pistons potentially adding the 31-year old forward.

The bottom line is this team needs talent and given the team player that he is, DeMar DeRozan could be an excellent fit. The Pistons have a nice blend of veteran talent with younger talent, which gives them the trade assets they need to bring DeRozan to the Pistons, but also gives them the role players they need to potentially make the playoffs.

While they are a bottom-tier team in the league this year, trading for DeRozan and signing him to a two or three-year deal gives the Pistons the flexibility they need to turn things around and finally start winning some games again.
