Why This Trade Would Benefit The Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings are once again one of the worst teams in the Western Conference. They are years away from competing which means we can start seeing some moves coming from the organization. Buddy Hield is the player that makes the most sense to trade at the current time.
This is a relationship that was skewed last season. Sacramento moved Buddy Hield to the bench in favor of Bogdan Bogdanovic. He is now in Atlanta after signing a deal in free agency which meant the Kings were forced to go back to Hield.
The particular return they are getting is led by Julius Randle. He is having an NBA All-Star caliber season and would help the Kings balance the floor. He could help to provide a level of impact that Sacramento had hoped would be possible from Marvin Bagley III.
Meanwhile, Frank Ntilikina is a young guard who would benefit from a change of scenery while Alec Burks is more of a proven commodity out on the perimeter. Regardless, this would mostly be a move centered around shedding large long-term contracts since the team is underachieving now and appears to be on that same trajectory going forward.
The current length of these deals is something that should intrigue the Kings. Burks is signed for just a season while Randle has this year and next left. This gives Sacramento flexibility to make decisions about these particular players over the next couple of years.
